What are you doing about cyber security?
On the Australian government’s Business website you can find a wealth of information to help your business succeed, such as grants, services and a cyber security assessment tool.
So what is cyber security about?
Do you use the internet for business? Make sure you know how to protect your information and technology from:
- accidental or illegal access
Protect any digital information that your business creates and stores. That includes information you collect from your customers. It also helps you build and maintain customer trust in your business.
Be effective and make cyber security a part of your daily business processes! So start by assessing how well you are doing and where you can improve. Enter the assessment tool.
The Cyber Security Assessment tool
This is a tool for small to medium businesses. The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources developed this tool so that you can identify your business’ cyber security strengths and weaknesses.
The tool asks a series of questions about how you manage your security risks. Based on your answers, you will receive a report with recommendations. You can download this report as a PDF.
What will I need?
You will need to have your ABN (Australian Business Number) to hand. That’s all. The Department asks for your ABN to help them understand how they can better support your cyber security needs. They state on the website that they will not provide it to third parties or use it for any other purposes.
The tool will take about 15 minutes to complete. The Department recommends that you should use this assessment tool at least once a year.
The tool will help you to:
- understand the steps you can take to strengthen your cyber security
- measure how you have improved over time.
